The Art Institute of Seattle was founded in 1946 as the Burnley School for Professional Art. In 1982, the prestigious Burnley School joined the national Art Institute school system and became The Art Institute of Seattle.
The Art Institute Seattle is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. Located on the waterfront in Seattle, it has an enrollment of more than 2,000 students studying culinary arts, fashion design and media arts.
Cornish College of the Arts is one of only three private, nonprofit performing and visual arts colleges in the nation, Cornish is a four-year college offering a Bachelor of Music degree and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in art, dance, design, theater and performance production. It's a small college with fewer than a thousand students that is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
Kitsap Art School of the Arts offers weekly classes and workshops for professional and amateur artists with an emphasis on drawing and painting. Located in Old Town Silverdale at the edge of Waterfront Park, the school also offers art classes in historic downtown Port Orchard. All ages are welcome to the classes held weekly in six-week sessions. There are also children's workshops available throughout the school year.
Pratt Fine Arts Center combines classes, exhibitions and lectures to teach the more than 3,500 students who study jewelry-making, metal-working, print-making, glass-making, drawing, painting and sculpture. Students can also create their own areas of art study under the supervision of trained faculty. While students receive hands-on experience with professional artists, Pratt is a non-accredited community arts school and does not provide its students with degrees.
