Instructions

    • 1

Decide the dimensions you want for your wooden fruit basket. Use these measurements to draw a pattern for the basket. Once you've finished, purchase wood that is the correct width and length for your basket. For instance, if you want the base of your basket to be 10 inches by 10 inches, purchase wood that is large enough.

    • 2

Measure and cut a piece of wood, using the miter saw, to serve as the base of your wooden basket. Because you will be gluing the side pieces onto the base, add an additional inch to the length and width of the base.

    • 3

Measure and cut the side pieces, according to your plan and design.

    • 4

Assemble the wooden basket by applying a thin bead of wood glue to each piece of the wood that will be in contact with another. Use clamps to hold the wood in place while the glue dries. Allow the glue to dry completely before moving onto the next step.

    • 5

Sand away any excess glue, using fine grit sandpaper.

    • 6

Paint or illustrate the wooden basket using acrylic paint.
