How to Digitize Vector Art to Embroidery

Whether you are looking to create your own clothing line or you simply want to have a custom piece of fabric embroidered with your own vector art, you can do so easily using various services. Many companies today digitize vector art to suit it for embroidery directly online, while some local printing shops may also have this service available depending on your own personal preferences.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather the artwork you would like to have digitized for your embroidery project or fabric. This artwork can be a general graphic or a vector graphic already converted, depending on the company and services you plan to pay for. Some digitizing services may be available at a local printing shop depending on your area. Most digitizing artwork and embroidery services are available online and ship worldwide within days of your order.

    • 2

Call local printing shops if you plan to stay local. Inquire about digitizing services for embroider and the pricing, as each company will have various price rates and package deals. Inform the printing shop of the type of graphics you need turned into vectors if you have not done so already, as this may cost an additional surcharge depending on the company's own printing and digitizing policies.

    • 3

Visit various online digitizing companies to compare pricing with local shops that also includes shipping to find the best deal for your project. Some popular digitizing services online include 24 Hour Artwork, Q Digitizing and Copy Artwork (see Resources). All of these companies offer different services at various pricing rates. You can also call the companies directly from the information listed on their official website to inquire about free printing samples and other details specifically related to your embroidery project.

    • 4

Submit the graphics or vector images to the company of your choice, whether local or online. If you are using an online service you will need to upload and submit your graphic(s) electronically using email or the website's uploading form, depending on the company's requirements. Once you submit or deliver your graphic to the embroidery and printing shop or website you will then be prompted to enter details about the fabric or supply your own fabric for embroidering.

    • 5

Place your order with the company of your choice, paying the fees online or in person at your local shop. The timing for your order depends on the company you have chosen to go with, so calling ahead on shipping and printing times is ideal if the project is urgent.
