Make unique drinking glasses using glass bottle bottoms. Flat bottomed, narrow glass bottles work best for this project. Use a glass cutter to cut the top portion of the bottle off, leaving you with the desired height for your drinking glass. If you have several of the same type of bottle, you can make an entire set of glasses. Be sure to sand over the rough edges, making them smooth and slightly tapered.
Coasters are another great way to recycle glass bottles for another purpose. Cut off the bottom of the glass bottle with a glass cutter so that you are left with a simple circle of glass. Depending on how large the bottle was, you can place varying sizes of drinks on them, saving your table or furniture from water rings.
The Fave Crafts website suggests using the bottoms of glass bottles to create garden edges. For this art project, there is no cutting necessary. Bury the glass bottles upside down about halfway up. You will need many bottles of the same size for this project. The amount of bottles needed will be determined by how large your garden is.
You can make your own wind chimes by cutting the bottoms of glass bottles into small, round pieces about 1 to 2 inches thick. The sides of the cut pieces should be sanded down so there are no rough edges. Drill a small hole in the center of the glass pieces to run a line of clear string (such as fishing wire) through. String several pieces together at varying heights and then hang for soothing sounds powered by the wind.
