The simple pleasure behind receiving a postcard enthralled Paulo Magalhães whose vision of creating a global postcard network formed during his university years. The concept, “Send a postcard and receive a postcard back from a random person in the world!” regardless of their location, age, gender, race or beliefs. Debuting on July 14th, 2005 Postcrossing opened publicly online for free. Since its inception 220,605 members in 203 countries have mailed 7,072,354 postcards to date. What happens when a 15-year old graffiti artist finds a camera on a subway? He exposes his subculture on film then pastes the printed images on the streets of Paris. After years of combining the illegal act of graffiti with pasting printed images on walls, the artist JR unglues his own boundaries wondering can "art change the world?” Without gallery walls or a curator he subjugated his work to the public. Now, he wants you to participate in creating black and white portraits of faces to be made into posters and pasted on bridges, buildings, shops, sidewalks or wherever you can get permission.
