A seasonal craft is the craft stick mummy. This Halloween-themed project is easy to make and can be a fun project to do with children. All that is needed is a single craft stick, white felt, wiggle eyes and glue. Simply glue two wiggle eyes to one end of the craft stick. Next, cut the white felt into thin strips and glue it as it is wrapped around the craft stick, covering everything but the wiggle eyes. This can also be done with a white shoelace.
A craft-stick picture frame is another simple project that can be completed by children. In addition to basic art supplies such as scissors and glue, you'll need eight craft sticks, a photograph, a magnet, paint or markers, yarn and cardboard. The craft sticks are then glued to make a box, which represents the dimensions of the frame. Place the photograph inside the frame and glue cardboard behind it for support. After it dries, a magnet can be glued to the back of the cardboard so it can be hung on a refrigerator. You can also glue yarn to the frame to use it for wall hanging.
To create a utensil holder, you'll need a round container, craft sticks and glue. Pringles cans typically work well for the round container. Glue craft sticks in vertical positions to the outside of the container, cutting the sticks to prevent overlapping. The craft sticks can then be colored with designs to give the holder some pizazz. Small samples of wallpaper are another option. To add stability, pour some marbles or a small amount of plaster into the holder to give it additional weight.
A log cabin is an easy-to-do project that requires scissors, glue, crayons, a penny, craft sticks and construction paper. Cut the construction paper into a rectangle, then glue craft sticks to one side of the paper. Next, cut out a triangular piece and glue it on as the roof. Finally, an additional piece of construction paper can be cut out and applied as a door. The penny can be glued to the log cabin as the window. For a more complicated project, the cabin can be made of four walls. To create this, repeat the process, just with three additional pieces of paper.
