Gather your original texts, links, images, and video content that you want to use for your digital magazine, then make a new project in Adobe InDesign.
Check the dashboard view of the tablet pages in your new project. You will have options for previews meant for different devices. For the iPad, the format used is HTML5. Complete your design and layout using WoodWing’s “Tablet Publishing” plugins for Adobe InDesign. This provides you with a user-friendly solution to make creative interactive publications without any steep learning curve or the need to acquire programming knowledge.
Simply use the drag-and-drop process to include your gathered materials in your digital magazine’s layout. You can also rearrange your layout to suit your preferences. There are different options to create icons and other features and custom controls so you can experiment on the final look of your magazine.
Save and export your magazine for iPad use. If it is not just meant for personal use and you have people subscribed to it, WoodWing also allows you to deliver it straight to your audience or you can upload publication issues into the cloud via the WoodWing Content Delivery Service (CDS).
Open the free application Zite. This allows you to create customizable content in digital magazine format. It uses a building wizard that bases your content on your own interests and preferences.
Choose a platform you want to use for the magazine creation. Primarily, Zite makes it easy to automatically create your magazine by clicking on the “Twitter” or “Google Reader” button. You may also skip these to readily choose other available categories instead. When choosing any of these platforms, you will be prompted to enter your username and password. You also need to select “Grant Access so Zite,” if prompted for it.
Wait until Zite starts building your magazine based on the information you provided on the prior categories and log-ins you made in Twitter, Google Reader and other available options.
View your digital magazine, then customize it according to your more distinct preferences. Explore the “Sections” sidebar area on the right side of the screen, which indicates your listed topics of interest. Tapping on any available topic will turn the sidebar off and this will prompt you to view the article. Swipe across the screen to start scanning or reading.
Tap the “Customize” button to select other sections of the magazine. This also allows you to enter new topics to include in your magazine. Use the “Personalization” bar to share the article to your social networking sites or via email or get more articles coming from the same author or site for your customized magazine.
