Making a magazine cover using a photo of a friend can be a fun gag gift. You can also use your own photo to see what you would look like as a cover model. In the past you would need to get a desktop publishing software to create your own magazine cover, but today you can create your own cover using a digital photo in a matter of minutes with the Internet and a few websites.

      Choose a site that gives you tools to make magazine covers. A few that you can use include Big Huge Labs, OpenZine or Fake Magazine.

      Open the website. Upload a photograph from your computer to the site by clicking on "Choose File," locating the folder and clicking "Upload Photograph."

      Click on the magazine template you want. There are dozens of templates to choose from. Scroll through the pages to find the one that best suits your needs.

      Adjust the size of the cover by typing in your desired height or width in the boxes provided. When you are satisfied with it click on the "Download Image" button.
