How Do I Publish for the iPad and Kindle?

You can publish your books on the Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle with the free services offered by Smashwords. It is the only website that gives you the tools to publish your e-books on both the iPad and Kindle devices. Otherwise, you would have to apply for a separate iTunes Connect account with Apple to publish your iPad e-book. According to Apple, the company has a strict approval process for new applicants. Your best option is to publish directly through Smashwords, uploading the same formatted document and distributing to both outlets at the same time.
