Place a round, disc-shaped item, such as a glass or jar lid, on top of the rubber carving block. Draw around this circular object with a pencil. Cut around your drawn outline with a craft knife. This forms the rubber disc that your stamp will be carved into.
Select a design to make a stamp from. Scale your design so that it will fit inside the pre-cut circular disc of the carving block. Draw or print this design onto a sheet of paper.
Trace your design onto a sheet of tracing paper with a pencil. Place the drawn-on side of the tracing paper face down on top of the craving block. Adjust the image until it is in the desired location. Draw or shade over all the lines of your image. Lift off the tracing paper. The image will have transferred onto the carving block.
Carve away the areas of the design that you do not want to print. Hold the lino cutters so the blade glides along the surface of the carving block. Carve an 1/8 of an inch away from areas that you do not want to print.
Rinse the carved rubber disc in water to remove any dirt, dust or rubber pieces. This is your custom disc stamp.
Press the disc stamp face down into the stamp pad. Cover all of the areas you want to print with a layer of ink. Press the stamp face down onto a piece of paper. Lift up the stamp to reveal the print of your custom disc stamp.
