How to: Collage Stamp

If you have extra postage stamps or scraps of paper, you can recycle them into a stamp collage. Collage stamping involves arranging rubber stampings or postage stamps on plain paper to make textured, visually interesting wall hangings, cards and stationery. Advanced artists use the collage stamp technique to make realistic life-size or larger-than-life portraits constructed entirely out of stamps.

Instructions

    • 1

Stamp rubber stamps on scrapbook paper, using different colored inks for variety. Cut out the individual stampings, using scissors. If you are using postage stamps instead, you can skip this step.

    • 2

Draw a color-coded picture on the paper to which you want to mount the stamps if you want the stamps to make a shape. If you prefer a random stamp design, skip this step.

    • 3

Coat a stamp-size section of the mounting paper with decoupage glue and stick on the stamp. Repeat this process until the mounting paper is covered with stamps. If you want the stamps to make a picture, match the stamp colors to the colors in the drawn design. If you want the stamps to overlap, coat the bottom stamp with decoupage glue before laying another stamp over it.

    • 4

Apply two coats of decoupage glue over the completed collage to hold the stamps in place.
