How to Flatten Paper
Old, crumpled, folded, or wet paper needs to be flattened before it can be filed away or pasted into a scrap book. Crumpled or uneven paper takes up a lot of space in filing systems and causes scrapbooks to bulge out unnaturally. Once you flatten out your paper, it will return to its original condition and be ready for whatever use you have in mind.

1
Unfold or uncrumple the paper. If it is wet, let the paper dry out before you handle it so it doesn't tear.

2
Use your hand to gently smooth out the bigger crumples or folds.

Get a heavy book and place the piece of paper near the bottom of the book, so that most of the weight of the book is used for flattening the paper. Let it rest overnight and check it in the morning. If it is not fully flattened leave it in for another six to eight hours.
