Design your clock. Clocks do not have to be round. Explore other shapes such as stars, hearts, ovals or anything else you can imagine. You may be able to find plywood in your chosen shape at your local hardware store. If not, draw the shape onto the plywood and cut it using a band-saw to easily cut out the shape. Use fine sand paper to smooth the edges of your shape.
Print a personal picture for your clock on adhesive picture paper. Leave the backing on the paper and place it under your shape. Carefully trace around the shape. Make sure not to trace over any piece of the picture that you want to include on the face of your clock. Use a boxcutter to cut out the shape.
Place the picture over the wood with the paper back of the picture still covered. Decide where you want to place the clock. Be creative; the clock does not have to be centered on your picture. Once you have decided where you want your clock placed, mark it on your wooden shape as well as your picture.
Drill a hole into the wooden cut-out, using a drill bit that is equal in width to the stem of the clock works. Take the backing off of the adhesive paper, and secure it to the wooden shape. Make sure that the drilled hole is aligned with the dot on the picture. Carefully puncture the hole with a nail. Insert the clockworks.
Decorate your personalized clock. You do not need to stick to the conventional numerals. You can glue gemstones, fancy numbers, or even buttons to your clock. The sides of your clock can be covered with contact paper, or painted.
