Tennessee Art Shows

For art lovers and fine artists alike, the state of Tennessee is home to a number of annual art shows where local and national artists can display their work. Sponsored by a various organizations, most of the art shows are free to the public, while others host a number of ticketed events.
  1. Four Bridges Arts Festival

    • Sponsored by the Association for Visual Arts, this art show is held annually in the spring at First Tennessee Pavilion in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Participating artist displays include oil painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, glass, mixed media and many others. Artists are selected by jury, and a number of emerging artists are awarded scholarships to the event each year. The weekend-long event includes live music, food and family events. There is a small admission fee charged to the public, with a special ticketed preview dinner party available for about $60 to $75 per person.

    American Artisan Festival

    • This art show has been held annually in Nashville, Tennessee since the early 1970s. It is held each year on Father's Day weekend at Nashville's historic Centennial Park. More than 150 artisans display their work here, ranging in media from photography to jewelry to pottery. Live music and food are offered, as well as crafts for the kids. This event is free to the public.

    Dogwood Arts Festival

    • Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, this is an elaborate festival that celebrates arts of many kinds in numerous locations throughout Knoxville. Timed in early April around the blossoming of the dogwood trees (hence the name), the festival includes art exhibits in numerous galleries, film, live music and a parade, ranging from "blue jeans to black tie" in style. Many displays and events are free.

    The Harding Art Show

    • Sponsored by the Parents Auxiliary of Harding Academy in Nashville, this art show is an annual fundraiser for Harding Academy, held in early May. Fine art is displayed for sale from dozens of fine artists throughout the southeast. Artwork includes oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. Events include a ticketed meet-the-artists preview party for a small admission charge, and a free evening party during the event with food and drinks available.
