Every August since 1963, the Uptown Art Festival has been held in uptown Minneapolis. For three days, an array of youth and professional artists, performers and food vendors get together to perform and and sell eclectic wares. On average, over 375,000 people attend the Uptown Art Festival, making it nationally recognized. Eligibility to showcase and sell artwork requires completion of an online application, including submission of five images of work, by the beginning of March.

Loring Park near downtown Minneapolis is host to the annual Loring Park Art Festival. Original work from 140 visual artists is displayed in 12-by-12 booths alongside children's activities and food booths. Scheduled stage performances and musicians also display their talents during the two-day festival held in the beginning of August. Artwork ranges from photographs, handmade paper and jewelry to sculpture and painting.

Held every third Saturday in August on the streets of downtown Buffalo, the Sidewalk Arts and Craft Festival is a popular community event. Two hundred craft and food vendors set up tables and booths along the sidewalks. Artists must display only hand-crafted items. The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
