Hunt for old relics in locations such as woods, beaches and riverbanks. Open farm fields also are a good location to find relics. Be sure to get permission from the landowner to search the area.
Obtain a metal detector to help search for relics. Use the metal detector during your hunt by running it over the desired areas. Metal detectors generally beep when they find something under the surface.
Dig up the relic with a shovel. Remove the item carefully and refill the hole with soil.
Clean the object with a rag or brush to remove dirt. Store the item in a backpack while you continue searching the area.
Continue your search until you have scoured the area in its entirety. If it is a large area, it might take several days.
Take your relics to a historical expert such as those found in museums or antique shops, to learn more about your relics. Perform research about the relics online for more information.
