With more than 300 artists from the U.S. and Canada exhibiting their work, 13 food booths, and four stages featuring musical performers, Summerfair Cincinnati brings the best in art and entertainment to the city's popular Coney Island District. A long-standing tradition, Summerfair marked its 43rd year in 2010. In 1977 the fair began its juried art competition. The same year, Summerfair instituted a yearly poster contest, awarding a cash prize for the most inventive design--and using the winner's artwork for the official Summerfair poster.
"Youth Arts Rocks!," a special arts area for children, features painting and crafts activities geared toward kids and families. Magicians, balloon artists, a puppet theater, and face painters provide entertainment. The three-day event draws over 20,000 visitors each year. Tickets are $10 per day, with children under 12 admitted free.

The Wyoming Art Show, in the picturesque Cincinnati suburb of Wyoming, featured 150 artists from seven states during its 2010 art show. Entering its 26th year in 2011, the exhibit and competition was put together by a group of volunteers to promote fine art in the greater Cincinnati area. It's held the third Sunday in May and offers jury prizes totaling $4,500 to the show's most talented artists. The event organizers hold a reception to present artists with awards at the end of the show. Painters, ceramic artists, jewelry makers, and other artisans can enter only the juried competition or apply for booth space and a place in the competition. Strolling musicians entertain patrons, and there's a food court with a wide selection of snacks and beverages. Children can participate in fun art activities at the "Imagination Station." Admission and parking are free.
