How to Make a Chipmunk Face Using Makeup

For plays featuring woodland creatures or for a whimsical Halloween costume, consider the feisty chipmunk. The key to making chipmunk face makeup look distinguishable from, say, a cat or a rabbit, is the white and brown striping that runs along the furry animal's back and across its eyes. For the best results, use high-quality cream makeup, found at theatrical supply stores and quality special effects makeup retailers online.

Instructions

    • 1

Sponge a light layer of white or off-white cake makeup over the face.

    • 2

Use a thin brush to sketch a "V" shape from the top of the forehead, across the brows, meeting at the tip of the nose. Sketch a 2-inch stripe about an inch below the eyes on either side, each tapering and ending at the nose.

    • 3

Fill in the "V" and the stripes with dark brown cake makeup.

    • 4

Brush white makeup around the eyes from the hairline to the sides of the nose, and over the upper lip.

    • 5

Paint on a black nose from the tip to the nostrils using cream makeup, then paint a line from the middle of the nose to the middle of the top lip. Make a few tiny black dots over the upper lip to suggest whiskers.

    • 6

Layer the brown area with different shades of brown cake makeup to give it the look of fur.

    • 7

Add details to the brown and white areas of the upper face using a thin brush and black and tan cream makeup.
