What kind of clothing do people wear from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines?
The national dress or costume from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is the Quadrille/Juba. The women wear a full-length skirt with gathers to the waist, trimmed with lace at the hem. Under the skirt, they wear a petticoat. On top, they wear a blouse that comes down to the waistline, and over the blouse, a fichu/scarf. Their heads are covered with Madras head ties, and they wear high-heeled shoes, gold earrings, a pearl necklace, and coral or pearl bracelets. The men wear a white linen shirt with frilled cuffs, tucked in a pair of high-waisted trousers, which can also be tucked into black knee-length or ankle-length boots. They also wear a head tie and a neckerchief. On their feet, they wear black leather shoes or boots. In rural areas, the older generation of women wear a simple head tie on top of a kerchief, a blouse that's tucked into a long flared skirt, and slippers or sandals. The men wear shirts and trousers made of rough cotton, along with a hat, a neckerchief, and footwear that can endure tough terrain. For evening wear, men can add a jacket and tie, while women wear more formal and colorful dresses.
