How did the original globe theatre burn down?
The original Globe Theatre in London burned down in June 1613 during a production of William Shakespeare's play Henry VIII. The cause of the fire is believed to have been a cannon misfire. The cannon was set off during the performance to simulate the sound of a battle. The sparks from the cannon ignited the wooden roof, which quickly spread throughout the theatre. The theatre was completely destroyed by the fire. The only casualty was a man named John Lowin who was playing a part in the play who was unable to escape from the theatre in time.
