According to its mission statement, DaySpring School of the Arts is a place where students can get equipped in the disciplines of the arts and have a creative outlet. It offers classes in a variety of areas, including musical theater, drama, technical theater, modern dance, jazz, tap and classical ballet. It also offers classes in fine arts as well as music lessons. Its performing arts classes include basic technique, improv, comedy and even circus acts. It has several performances a year, including one full-length ballet.
COCA was founded in 1986 and has provided St. Louis with a place to experience and learn the arts. It offers classes in ballet, cultural dance, hip hop, jazz, modern, tap, theater and voice. The classes are for everyone 3 years old up through adults. It also offers dance camps. The COCA theater company puts on performances and concerts throughout the year.
Wildwood Dance and Arts is a full-service studio that provides a range of dance classes, including ballet, pointe, tap, modern, jazz, cheer, hip hop, musical theater dance and break dance. It puts on two full-length shows every year and its musical theater production company puts on two shows a year as well. Wildwood has a set of classes called "ProTrack" for students who wish to have a profession in ballet, hip hop, contemporary or jazz dance.
Stages is a full-time seasonal company that presents 124 performances a year. It has its own performing arts academy that provides training in the musical theater arts. It has classes on acting, including imagination theater, improv, intro to acting, adult acting and stage makeup. Voice classes and private voice lessons are offered. Dance classes include ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and contemporary. Stages has musical theater classes for children through adults as well as a special program for students with physical, cognitive or developmental delays.
