How to Make Signs for Puppet Shows

Every puppet show, whether done by a professional or a team of excited children, could use an advertising sign. The sign displays important information about the show and, particularly for amateur performers and children, helps make the experience more professional and real. Make your own sign announcing your puppet show performance to save on costs and help make the event a success.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose and obtain the material from which you want to make your sign. Consider what type of sign you are making before you pick a material -- for example, signs made from regular printer paper work well on event boards, while a sign to catch the attention of passersby at the actual show should probably be larger. Consider using a nonwhite background for your sign to draw as much attention to it as possible.

    • 2

Choose the information you want to put on the sign. If there is a price to attend the show, include that as well as the theme of the puppet show and the name of the puppeteer. For pre-show advertising signs, also include the date and location of the puppet show.

    • 3

Use colorful markers to write out the information directly onto the sign, or print up the information from a word document. Be sure to write in large, easily readable letters. Lay out the advertising information in a clear, easy-to-read format. For example, write the name of the puppet show at the top of the poster, followed by the name of the puppeteer, a short description of the theme of the show, and the time and location information.

Complete your sign by adding eye-catching pictures and designs. These can increase the quality of your sign and draw more attention from passing individuals who may be interested in the show. For example, add a picture of a standard puppet, or a puppet that will be featured in the show.
