Choose a computer program to make your flyers. You may have a program already installed on your computer, with various flyer and poster templates to choose from. There are also websites that offer band flyer templates.
Browse the available templates in the program you choose, to see if one in particular stands out. Keep in mind the type of band you are promoting. Remember that if the sign is for a particular show, that may effect the type of picture and words you include (for example, if the show is advertised as family friendly, include only G-Rated pictures).
Choose a template and upload an image. Consider again what the sign is for specifically, promoting a new album, a gig, or a party, as you choose your image. You may choose to feature a picture of the band performing, or may find head shots are more appropriate.
Add the main text to your sign. There are many options, but it's a good idea to make the main point of the sign in a very large font that people can read quickly and from a distance. For example: "Ed Brown Trio at Trees Club Tonight."
Add the other details to your sign. Consider the date and time, venue, dress (if formal), ticket and/or CD prices, whether there is an age restriction, and a website where more information can be found. However, not all of this information is necessary, and the most eye-catching band signs are the ones that display only the most basic information.
Explore the fonts and colors offered by the program you are using. Most programs offer several options, so take the time to find those that will will help make your sign awesome. Remember your goal; to let fans to glean the most necessary information with a glance at the sign.
