How many amps do the best home theater systems have?

The power output of home theater receivers is typically measured in watts per channel, not amps. The number of amps a receiver or amplifier can deliver depends on the impedance of the speakers it is connected to. For example, a receiver rated at 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms can deliver twice as many amps into a 4 ohms load.

The current (amps) drawn by a speaker is determined by the voltage applied to the speaker and the speaker's impedance. The higher the voltage, the more current the speaker will draw. The lower the impedance, the more current the speaker will draw at a given voltage.

Most home theater receivers have a rated power output of between 50 and 200 watts per channel. The actual power output will depend on the impedance of the speakers that the receiver is connected to.
