What is rate in theater?

Rate in theater refers to the financial arrangement for actors. It is the standard or going rate of pay determined by various factors such as actors' experience, skill, and reputation, the size of the theater, and the size of the budget for the production. Actors may receive rate for rehearsals, performances, additional rehearsals outside of the scheduled rehearsal time, extra performances (after a certain number of scheduled performances), and other services related to the staging of the production. Rate is essential in ensuring fairness and stability in actors' compensation within the theater industry.
