How to Join Cirque du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil is not your average circus. Wildly entertaining shows, each as unique as it is spectacular, demand a constant supply of acrobats, athletes, dancers and contortionists. If you have exceptional artistic or athletic ability, plus a good dose of creativity and bravery, you could be a member of this rowdy band of performers.

Instructions

    • 1

Search The Cirque website. It lists the various discipline from which they recruit performers including actors, clowns, dancers, musicians, singers, divers, gymnasts and "circus arts."

    • 2

Register online as an applicant. After selecting your discipline, you must register as an applicant and provide a brief resume of your skills including training, level of achievement and contact information. Once registered, you will receive information on where to submit your audition photos and an audio/videotape of your skills.

    • 3

Send in your photos and audition tape to be reviewed by Cirque's casting team.

    • 4

Get invited to an audition. If your skills meet Cirque's current or projected requirements, you will be invited to audition. Auditions can last from 1 hour to 2 days. You will be told immediately whether your skills make the cut.

    • 5

Wait for the role. A successful audition will get your name into the pool of candidates; you will be called up to join the troupe when a part for your particular skills becomes available.

    • 6

Join the troupe. New performers start their career with Cirque in a training program adapted to their particular discipline. After successfully completing training, performers are hired on as artists and begin transitioning to a show.
