How to Join a Traveling Repertory Theatre Group

There are traveling repertory theatre groups all over the world. The auditions are relatively easy to find. It is just a matter of making an appointment, preparing for the audition, acing the audition and landing the role. Believe me, it sounds a lot easier than it really is. Here is how to become a traveling stage actor, considering everything goes your way with the auditions. And, who knows? It just might!

  • Audition monologue
  • Professional headshot and acting resume
  • Social Security Card
  • Government photo ID (Driver's License, etc.)

Instructions

      Find a traveling repertory theatre company that is holding auditions.

      Call to make an appointment or find out when the open call is.

      Prepare the required audition pieces, which can include a song, monologue and/or dance routine.

      Get directions to the audition venue.

      Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your audition and sign in or let the stage manager know that you have arrived.

      Perform your audition piece. Follow any and all directions given by the director. Attend callbacks, if necessary.

      Provide Social Security Card and Government Photo ID if required for tax purposes.

      Begin the rehearsal process with the traveling theatre company. Tie up all loose ends, such as bills and other obligations.
