Enter vocal lessons. Work with a professional vocal coach, who can help you craft your talent and determine your voice's natural range. Record yourself on cassette tape or compact disk, with your coach's help.
Ask the music coordinator at a local church about opportunities to join a pre-established gospel quartet. Call or email local or regional quartet groups about possible openings in your voice range. Look through newspapers or vocal magazines for audition advertisements.
Audition for the quartet. Prepare one or two songs that display your taste in gospel music, musical diversity and vocal quality. Follow specific audition instructions regarding song preparation, appearance, and the date and time.
Present a copy of your vocal cassette tape or compact disk, and a photo to the audition representative. These materials enhance your professional demeanor and improve your chances of success.
