How to Calculate the Weight of Books

If you've ever been a college or high school student, you likely are familiar with the feeling of carrying multiple textbooks in your bag or in your arms at the same time. It can be very tiring to have to lug unnecessary weight around from class to class for six or more hours at a time. If you want to know how much weight you're carrying around, you can calculate the weight of each individual book with minimal fuss, then add the weight up as needed.

Instructions

    • 1

Take your books to a supermarket produce section where there is a scale for measuring fruits and vegetables. This will likely be more reliable and accurate than a bathroom scale or any scale designed to weigh human beings.

    • 2

Place your book on the produce scale and look at the readout to find out how much the book weighs.

    • 3

Lift your other books one at a time. You can estimate the book's weight in relation to the first book you measured, or you can place each book individually on the same scale if you want an exact figure.

    • 4

Add each of the book weights together to calculate the total weight for the entire book set.
