Locate a photographer in your area who specializes in modeling photos. Search online and you may find experienced and talented photographers willing to work free to build their portfolio. Some pageants require a photo along with the application; having a professional headshot will convey your commitment and professionalism.
Contact the pageant event coordinators. Determine the dates of the pageant, requirements, restrictions, locations and any other information pertinent to the event.
Locate video of past editions of the pageant you plan on entering. Videos will likely be up on YouTube or the pageant's website. This will familiarize you with the pageant's particular formatting and help prepare you for the process.
Fill out your application carefully, following all guidelines set forth by the pageant committee. Small mistakes or omissions can cost you a place on the stage come pageant day. File your application on time and pay any pageant fees in full.
