Delegate the different roles to specific individuals. Decide who will be directing, who will be acting and who will be writing. For smaller groups, these individuals may perform more than one task.
Decide on an idea. This collaborative effort will depend on the setting in which the skit is performed. Certain topics may be inappropriate for certain audiences. Consider your resources and guidelines to find the best idea to fit both your cast and your audience.
Create the script. This will use all the predetermined criteria in a structured format mixing action and dialog. When writing in script format about one page equals one minute, so aim to create a complete script within about 10 to 15 pages.
Design the set if necessary. Gather the props that support your skit and design and create any costumes if required and available.
Rehearse the skit. The director instructs the actors where and how to perform their roles, which can enhance the performance. How much you rehearse depends on the environment you will be performing the skit.
