Walt Disney sadly never saw the completion of Walt Disney World. He passed away in 1966, five years before the opening of Magic Kingdom in 1971.
However, Walt's vision and ideas were carried on by his brother Roy O. Disney, who oversaw the completion of the project. Roy was instrumental in establishing the Walt Disney World Company and ensuring that Walt's dream came to life.
