Figuring out a way to make lights respond to the beats in different types of music is a relatively simple electronic design project, but requires a basic knowledge of how circuitry works. This is done in high-end live music performances, but also in people's Christmas light displays, by hooking up all of the lights to a small box that turns different circuits on based on a specific beat from a piece of music. Once lights have been attached to this piece of electric circuitry, it comes down to what color light will illuminate with each respective beat and what the brightness and frequency will be. For example, one person spent nearly two months and $10,000 to cover their house in Christmas Lights and have them light up to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Wizard in Winter," which was a spectacular performance and a YouTube sensation.
An electric design project that may need some fine tuning, but has a large amount of potential for success if done correctly, is one that takes human activity and converts it into energy that can be stored. To be more specific, this would be implemented in gyms where people are running on treadmills, helping to store this energy they are create by running to power the gym itself. Even more power can be created then is necessary to power the gym, in which case the gym can store it, sell it back to the power company and throw parties with the extra money for the members who have done most of the work. This electronic design project could be excellent marketing for a gym, as it makes being a member of the gym both entertaining and environmentally responsible.
Robotics projects require a mastery of circuitry as well as mechanics, as there must be an understanding of how all the different parts of a working robot must be powered at different speeds. There are a wide variety of robotics projects which have been going on for decades, with electronic design aficionados trying to design fully functioning robots that can do just about anything. While people are getting better and better at creating robotics, new electronic designs in robotics are always welcome, as the more people who work in the robotics field helps the research and science of it move along quickly. Adept knowledge of robotics and their electronic design can also lead to a very lucrative job.
