Mason was one of the founding members of Pink Floyd, along with Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright. He joined the band in 1965 and remained a member until their dissolution in 1995.
Mason was known for his distinctive drumming style, which was often characterized by his use of unconventional rhythms and time signatures. He was also known for his experimental use of sound effects and tape loops.
In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, Mason has also released several solo albums and has collaborated with other musicians, including Robert Wyatt, Carla Bley, and Michael Mantler.
Mason is the only member of Pink Floyd to have appeared on every studio album released by the band. He is also the only member of the band to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
