Shakespearean Sonnet:

Petrarchean Sonnet:

- Meter: Iambic pentameter

- Structure: An octave (8-line stanza) followed by a sestet (6-line stanza)

- Theme: Typically divided into two parts with the first 8 lines presenting a problem, question, or situation, and the last 6 lines offering a resolution, reflection, or answer

- Originated from the Italian poet Petrarch
