How is the globe theatre laid out?

The Globe Theatre

* Shape: The Globe Theatre was a circular wooden building with a thatched roof. It was about 100 feet in diameter and could hold up to 3,000 people.

* Stage: The stage was a raised platform at the center of the theatre. It was about 40 feet wide and 25 feet deep.

* Audience: The audience sat on benches arranged in a semi-circle around the stage. The benches were divided into three tiers, with the most expensive seats in the top tier.

* Backstage: There was a small backstage area behind the stage. Actors would use this area to change costumes and props.

The Globe Theatre is unique for several reasons:

- It was one of the first theatres to be built specifically for plays.

- It was the home of William Shakespeare's plays for many years.

- It was destroyed by fire in 1613, but was rebuilt a few years later.

The Globe Theatre today is a reconstruction of the original theatre. It is located on the south bank of the River Thames in London. The theatre is open to the public and offers tours and performances.
