Macbeth is suspicious of Macduff because he is the only nobleman who does not attend his coronation. Macbeth also knows that Macduff has a strong following among the Scottish people. So, Macbeth decides to have Macduff killed.
Macbeth sends a group of assassins to Macduff's castle. However, Macduff is warned of the plot by his wife and escapes to England. There, he joins forces with the English king, Edward the Confessor, and they invade Scotland.
The English and Scottish armies meet at Dunsinane Hill. In the battle, Macbeth is defeated and killed by Macduff.
