What happens to Gale in Mockingjay?

In the book Mockingjay, Gale Hawthorne is severely injured during the bombing of District 13 which killed his friend Finnick Odair and the president Alma Coin. He loses one of his legs and is placed in the hospital for medical treatment and recovery.

Gale survives the ordeal and later chooses to move to and help rebuild District 2 which suffered extensive damage after the war in an effort to find peace and move on from his trauma that he experiences while fighting in Panem's revolution against the capitol.
