The summer program offered by the Young Actor's Studio is geared to kids who are seriously interested in improving their skills. Two 3-week sessions, one in July and one in August, offer Scene Study and Production in the morning and Acting Technique in the afternoon. Separate groups for children ages 7 to 12 and teenagers help keep the lessons age-appropriate.

Located in the San Bernardino Mountains about two hours east of Los Angeles, Pali Overnight Adventures offers an Acting Academy among its specialty camps. Campers from ages 9 through 16 may attend this residential camp for either one- or two-week sessions. Mornings are devoted to acting techniques or, for two-week sessions, acting in a film produced by campers at Pali's Film Institute. During the afternoon, kids participate in three different camp activities of their choosing, which may include sports, traditional camp arts and crafts, or even a pedicure.

Kids who attend the Summer Youth Drama Camp at this outdoor theater in the Santa Monica Mountains near Malibu get a taste of Shakespearean drama. In addition to basic acting techniques, campers also learn Elizabethan dances and songs, fencing and stage combat. This day camp for ages 8 to 14 runs three days weekly for five weeks, and at the end of the session all participants perform in an edited version of one of Shakespeare's plays. The Theatricum also offers the Young Peoples Camp for children ages 4 to 7 and the Intensive Shakespeare Seminar for older teens.

Summer camp workshops from Kids On Stage based in Santa Monica provide children with creative outlets for their imagination or an opportunity to participate in traditional musical theater. Sessions titled Creative Dramatics or Imagination Theater are designed for younger children up to 7 years old, while the five-week musical theater programs are suitable for kids from 7 to 12 or teenagers up to 15 years old. Specialty workshops in stage combat, comedy improvisation and video drama are also available.
