When did Broadway start?
Broadway theatre, often referred to as simply Broadway, is a theatrical production presented in one of the 41 professional theatres with 500 or more seats located in the Theater District and Lincoln Center along Broadway, in Manhattan, New York City. Although Broadway as a specific location did not exist until the late 19th century, the modern tradition of Broadway theatre began with the construction in 1895 of the Herald Square Theatre, followed by Koster and Bial's Music Hall and the New Amsterdam Theatre.
