Know what to expect. Standing Room Only tickets do not guarantee that you will get an actual seat in the theater, only that you will get into the theater and get to see the show. There are numbered spaces the width of regular seats marked out behind the orchestra seats or behind the mezzanine seats. This is where you will stand.
Decide what show you would like to see. Standing Room Only tickets are usually only made available if the show is sold out. The more popular a show is, the more likely that it will sell out and you can try to get a ticket.
Research the theater's Standing Room Only policies. Some theaters only sell Standing Room Only tickets to students and require valid student IDs.
Find out when the box office opens. Most Broadway theaters open at 10:00 am Monday through Saturday and noon on Sunday.
Check the payment policies. Many box offices will only accept cash for Standing Room Only tickets.
Show up early. This step is crucial to getting a ticket. You must arrive at the box office on the day of the performance and wait in line. It is common to wait in line a couple of hours to get tickets to some of the more popular shows.
