Create buildings by stacking cardboard boxes on top of each other and gluing them together with a hot-glue gun. Make buildings of varying heights: some can be 10-feet tall while others can be six feet. Line the background and the sides of the stage with the box skyscrapers to create a New York City feel.
Cover the stacked boxes with gray or silver wrapping paper using double-sided tape.
Run Christmas lights up and down the front of some of the buildings, using tacks to keep the strands in place. This will represent lights in the building windows.
Paint windows and doors on the remaining buildings.
Stick parallel strips of yellow duct tape on the floor to represent roads.
Hang white or yellow lanterns from the ceiling to create the overhead glow of street lights.
Create the Guys & Dolls signature neon signs (similar to those used as "Open" signs in the windows of bars and stores) to clearly relay to the audience what show the set belongs to and add authenticity.
Blow up eight, long, thin neon orange balloons. These will create the frame for the sign.
String Christmas lights on the wall to write in cursive the words "Guys & Dolls." Use tacks to keep the strands in the correct placement.
Replace one of the bulbs on each strand with the provided bulb to make the lights blink.
Use double sided tape to frame the words with the neon balloons. Arrange the balloons in a rectangle shape around the words on the wall.
