Rush Seating Instructions

Rush seating/tickets have been a staple of the Broadway theatres for over a hundred years and have set rules for rush seating at other venues. The rules may be different at each venture, but how it works is relatively simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrive at a venue anywhere from eight to two hours earlier, depending on how popular the act is, the day and time of the show, unless the show is 100 percent sold out.

    • 2

Be at the head of the line as quickly as possible as the venue begins to sell the tickets about two hours before show time. These tickets can be way up in the nosebleed section or in a section where there is no seating. Usually there's room to sit on the floor in those circumstances.

    • 3

Make sure that when you line up you are ready to enjoy the performance. You won't have time to go home and change or gather cameras or water. Bring anything you might want or need to the rush-seating wait line itself.

    • 4

Do not push, shove or invade another's space as you enter to find a seat or place to stand. No performer or event should be so popular that it makes people lose their good sense.
