Open your web browser and navigate to a search engine such as Google.com, Yahoo.com or Bing.com.
Recall a line or two from the song in question. Type in one line from the song into the search engine bar.
Encase the lyrics in quotation marks and press “Search.” The quotation marks allow the search engine to find the exact series of words in your search.
Shorten the lyric if you still cannot find the song. When searching, less is more. The song title and author will appear in the search results.
Go to a song lyric website such as SongLyrics.com or AZLyrics.com.
Look for the search bar within the website. It is usually located in the upper right-hand corner.
Type in the song lyric in the search bar, with or without quotation marks, and press “Search.” This brings up search results that match the lyrics.
Download a song finder application, or app, for your smartphone. Many smartphones, including the iPhone and Blackberry, have this app available to download for a fee.
Open the app on your phone when you hear the song in question.
Hold the phone up to the song so the app can process it. The song finder app allows your phone to process the sound and lyrics and give you the author name and title of the song.
