Look up the albums put out by the artist who performs the song, if you know who this is. If you heard the song title before but now can't remember it, perhaps seeing the song title listed on the album will help jog your memory. Even if the Gospel song is completely new to you, and you were never aware of the song title, you may still be able to find out what the title of the song is by reviewing the song title credits attributable to the artist who performs it. For example, Gospel artist Shirley Caesar sings a song that goes:
I remember Mama,
and the love that she gave
Kneeling by her bed side
I can still hear Mama say,
"The people are depending on you, Shirley,
don't you let them down"
I remember Mama in a happy way...
The title of the song is "I Remember Mama." And the phrase "I Remember Mama" is repeated throughout the song. If you heard this song but didn't know the title, just seeing the title listed amidst Shirley Caesar's song credits, you would mostly likely figure it out.
Contact a Gospel radio station and ask the on-air talent. Even if there are no local radio stations in your area that play Gospel music, many local Gospel radio stations in other areas can be heard streaming online. Visit the station's website to retrieve their listener call-in contact information. The on-air talents that work at radio stations are often very knowledgeable about the songs and artists that fall within the music format they work with. After all, it's their job to play and talk about these songs. Call up the radio station. Even if you have to resort to humming the tune of the song you hear to the dj, there's a fair chance she will know exactly what you're looking for.
Visit a Gospel record store, if you have one in your area. Just as it is with Gospel music deejays, the sales assistants who work at Gospel record stores are often very knowledgeable about a wide array of Gospel songs and artists.
