Log on to the Internet and open up a web browser.
Type in the name of the artist or a band, if you know it. Many times you will be directed to the band's website, which will include a list of its songs. Look for titles that remind you of the song, or listen to part of the songs. Many times the written lyrics of the band's songs will also be available for you to read.
Type a few lyrics or lyrical phrases from the song into the search engine. Type in the word "lyrics'' before or after the words that are in quotes, and hit search. Here's an example: lyrics "Living in a fish eye lens.'' The search engine reveals a song called "Limelight" by the band Rush. Many times the phrase you type in will actually turn out to be the name of the song.
Type "lyrics search'' into your search engine. This will lead to websites where you can find the name of a song by typing in some of the song's keywords.
Log on to a website where you can hum part of the song into a microphone attached to your computer. The reviews on these type of websites report mixed results, but it's about the only solution remaining if you don't know the name of the artist, or any words that are in the song.
