Start your media player. Select the music library view if your player does not already show your music library by default. Not all portable players allow custom sorting, but players that run on computers and laptops usually do.
Set up the music library view so that song title is one of the items shown for each song in your music library. Most players allow the user to configure the music library view to show items such as title, artist, year, length, track number and genre. Be sure the view displays information in columns.
Click the column header at the top of the column that lists song titles. Most popular media players sort the selected column automatically. However, some players call the title by different names, such as "Clip name" or "Track name."
Review the sorted list of titles, and correct titles that are incorrect or misspelled, by editing the file information field.
Re-sort the music list until you are satisfied with how the songs are ordered.
Export a list of songs to a spreadsheet or text file.
Open the file in a compatible editor. For spreadsheets, use Microsoft Excel or equivalent. For a plain text file where the titles are in a single column -- top to bottom -- you may use almost any word processor that has a sort function.
Click on the sort button in your toolbar menu, and sort your song list alphabetically using ascending sort order. Depending on the word processor you use, you might need to search through nested menus to find the sort function. Refer to the Help menu in your word processor or editor for more details about sorting.
Review your list and make corrections to titles and spelling.
Re-sort the list until you are satisfied. Next, you can save the file or print it out.
