What was first song?
The Hurrian Songs are two songs discovered by archeologists at the ancient Near Eastern site of Ugarit in northern Syria. They are the oldest songs known to exist with notated melody and lyrics, and are in the Hurrian language. The songs are believed to have been composed around 1400 BC, making them over 3,400 years old.
These songs were notated using 15 signs of a cuneiform musical notation which indicated musical pitch. However, the exact tuning of the system has not survived, and it is now not known what the Hurrian songs actually sounded like.
