How to Host WWE

World Wrestling Entertainment, better known as the WWE, entertains millions of wrestling fans through action-packed live and televised events. On programs like "RAW," fans are given inside information on the wrestler's and evening's card by commentary from usually two announcers, one of whom calls the play-by-play action while the other adds color commentary, usually about a wrestler's storyline. Landing a host gig at the announcer's table is a dream job for many, but a challenging career road to take.

Instructions

    • 1

Take college-level classes in communications or media relations. The sooner you start the better, as you'll want to be exposed to as much information as possible about the communications field, which includes television presentation. Naturally, grades are important but the knowledge on how events are taped and how segments are shot are paramount to understanding how WWE operates its TV shows.

    • 2

Attend wrestling shows in person while continuing to watch WWE events on television. Pay attention to the wrestlers' moves and know their names so that when and if the time comes, you'll be able to accurately speak the lingo and call matches as the action happens. A simple exercise is to watch in person or watch with the sound turned down on TV and call the match, out loud or inside your head.

    • 3

Create a video of yourself conducting mock interviews or talking about a particular WWE event from a host's point of view. This type of video serves as a professional demo of your skills and is used widely as a tool of self-promotion throughout the television media industry. Make your demo video as professional as possible, with proper lighting and sound. Consider hiring a local film crew if need be to for help in shooting the video.

    • 4

Send a copy of your video to WWE's corporate office in Stamford, Connecticut. Periodically, WWE posts job openings on WWE-careers.com, the company's "human resources" site, so browse through any openings and apply for a posted job online. Just because an opening isn't posted doesn't mean the company isn't interested in finding new talent, so send in your video and wait. You'll more than likely repeat this step several times until you get noticed.
