How to Copy the Original CD

Copying an original CD, such as your favorite CD album, so that you have a backup copy is a straightforward and simple thing to do. With the advent and wide use of home computers and software such as iTunes and Windows Media Player, copying a CD at home is a common procedure. Sometimes a few things need to be pointed out, however, especially for the newcomer to computers and music burning software.

  • Blank CD-R

      Click on the icon of your music burning software to open it; iTunes, Windows Media and any other software with disc-burning capabilities is suitable for this. Insert the original audio CD you wish to copy into your computer's disc drive.

      Click on "Import" in your music burning software program; your audio CD will now be imported into the said program.

      Go to "File" at the top of the music program's screen and select "New Playlist" from the drop-down list. Type in the title of the original CD you want to copy into the box provided.

      Click and drag the original audio CD and drop it into your renamed New Playlist file. Put a blank CD-R into the disc drive on your computer. Click on "Burn."
